Live from the Tank Studio this week we have Burlington Hip-Hop Rockers The 2nd Agenda. Described as “a dynamic four-piece band that plays an amalgam of driving rock, alternative groove and hip-hop with lyrics that discuss possibilities and ask us to think collectively. The band is constantly searching for ways to connect understanding and conversation around choices and the potential for collaboration of perspectives. In a world of slipping sustainability, our communities must combine to destroy the experts on authority by taking responsibility and modeling accountability in our reality.”

Andy Lugo leads the charge on guitar and vocals with Joshua Cleaver on Bass, Trevor Jewitt on drums and Transplante on turtables/vocals as the band performs songs off their debut EP “Hope Is a Must” as well as some new songs featuring a couple guest MC’s.

EXPOSURE IN THE TANK: SQUID CITY

Burlington psychedelic-ambient-power-trio Squid City perform a live set from the Tank Studio for this week’s episode of “Exposure In The Tank”.

Self described as “An instrumental trio that is never predictable, Squid City combines ambient jazz, rock and progressive influences together with creative composition and thoughtful improvisation in order to create "music that speaks for itself". This live in-studio set captures Squid City at their finest, “maintaining a constant presence that strives to promote balance and harmony through focused juxtapositions of space and time.”

Burlington’s favorite instrumental groove quintet, Japhy Ryder, lays down a 40 minute set live at The Tank. EXPOSURE IN THE TANK: Craig Mitchell & Motor City

The story of Craig Mitchell & Motor City is one with many twists, turns, ins, outs and what-have-yous....

One group of musicians found out that one extremely talented singer/dj had an even bigger obsession with Prince than they did. The two combined forces and put on not one but TWO sold out shows in Burlington, VT paying homage to the Purple One and his music. After those two shows and a few other collaborations between the prince-obsessed musicians involved, it was decided that some original music needed to be created. They knew it was going to be damn good so they were already talking about a record, touring, playing Madison Square Garden, meeting the president...and now its finally come to fruition.

Over the past few months with some critically acclaimed shows in between, the boys in Motor City have been honing their sound and crafting some songs that at times sound like Prince, Talking Heads and Jamiroquai while also gaining influences from the sounds of the Motor City itself, whether that be Parliament Funkadelic, Detroit techno, the Stooges or the White Stripes. After melding all of these influences together while keeping their own sound intact, Craig Mitchell & Motor City have embarked on recording their debut 6-song EP at The Tank Recording Studio.

Following an incredibly fruitful weekend of tracking, the 7-piece band came back and performed a live set on “Exposure In The Tank”. Enjoy!
